Some high schools have daycare on site, some don't. What are the advantages of having them? Does it promote teenage pregnancy?
Explain.Do you think that high schools should provide daycare to teenage Moms?
NO!
Actions have consequences. You chose to have sex, the consequence is now you have a child. Where is the dad? Why isn't he paying for childcare. As a tax payer, why should I shoulder the burden of childcare for you child, when I raised my children I paid all of their expenses, I didn't depend on school or any other government agency to pay for my children. I'm sure the dad ';LOVED,'; you when he had sex with you, where is he? and why isn't he payingDo you think that high schools should provide daycare to teenage Moms?
I go to a alternative school that has a daycare that my daughter goes to. I personally think that it is a great idea because it helps girls that want to finish school but can't afford daycare else where. It was also really great when my daughter was a baby because I could leave class to nurse her so she got all the benefits from breastfeeding. I don't think that it promotes teen pregnancy I just think it really helps out when someone makes a mistake and wants to take care of their responsability for that child. At least they are not making their parents take care of the baby the baby is there with them.
Even schools had a daycare like ours you have to bring your childs supplies for the day their diapers, wipes, and food for them the daycare does not provide anything accept a knowledgable person to care for the children. And to the person who's comment was above mine you are steriotyping not all teen moms are single teen moms. My fiance and I have been together for almost 5 years and have a home of our own where we take care of our child. He works full time and I go to school full time he doesnt make enough for us to pay all of our bills and pay for daycare, what else would you like me to do quit school and go out and get a job just so I can pay for daycare nothing else just daycare? Think a little before you start steriotyping every teen parent.
I think that in the world we live in now, yes every single high school should have a daycare center. Teens are gettign pregnant left and right and dropping out of highschool. THey can't provide for their kids if they don't have the proper education. Either way, they're going to keep getting pregnant. Would you rather them stay in school and have their babies in the daycare, or drop out to watch the babies at home. They need the full high school education and having a baby should not be a factor in this.
On the other hand, it does promote teenage pregnancy. Teens can look at this and say ';oh, well now i can have a baby because i'll still be able to stay in school.';
i'm sure the teen pregnancy rate will go up, but at least they will have stay in school.
Yes and no. At my high-school, virtually nobody gets pregnant so it would be a waste of money for schools that do not have pregnant students.
However, in northern canadian communities it isn't uncommon to have students get pregnant when their in their teens, so it would be a huge asset to their education if they could have a daycare service provided. I do not believe it would make an impact on how many pregnancies they are, because the cause of the pregnancies is rooted in their culture, not in the fact that they can have a child and an education at the same time.
Yes some high schools have them, but I don't think they should because that is like telling the people in high school it's okay to have a child at such a young age and it's not.
So in my opinion I don't think high schools should provide daycare for the teenage moms. You go to school to get an education not to go and look for someone to look after your child because you weren't responsible.
i see it from both perspectives. My highschool of just over 300 students had a daycare with 5-6 children on avg. this was a great way for the moms to learn parenting skills. they were required to attend classes in child development, etc. also this provided a place for students like myself to take a course with practicle application on childcare. I took caregiving for 2 years. it was a good course, and was a lot of fun. and the program had a very high sucess rate of moms (and 2 dad's-who were activly involved in their children's lives) that finished highschool.
however i think some students would see this as an easy way out if they did have a baby. i really do think that few students are stupid enough to think oh there is cheap daycare... i'll have a baby because of it. but hey there is always one in a crowd that jumps up and surprises you.
Someones been watching Degrassi! Lol..
On site daycares are always very helpful to teenage mothers, but there are so many downs about it. For one, they cost a lot to build and stock toys for, not to mention to get personel to watch the children. Also, if a girl is old enough to have a baby, and responsible enough, then she should be able to watch said child. A highschool daycare wont always be there, either, so once she graduates, shes done.
No to your main question
The advantages of having them is that the teen mother will have a place to send their kid while they are completing their studies.
Yes, I believe it does promote teenage pregnancy. Some teenagers that want kids might see their classmates kids and how cute they are and figure ';well, school will take care of my kid while I'm at school, so there's no problem there, I'll just have a kid and can still get my HS diploma.';
If the money for it came from a different source than the money needed for the school. Schools are in deep financial trouble as it is.
I don't think it promotes getting pregnant, but it does allow for the girl who did so to still get an education. Meaning she can then get a decent job and not be on welfare.
I think it does promote teenage pregnancy.
One of the biggest issues is who will take care of the baby, and if a high school provides care for the baby, that no longer becomes an issue, so teens will get pregnant.
The daycare could provide good experience for childcare/family roles/etc. classes though.
It doesn't promote pregnancy, I think it promotes staying in school and not dropping out.
The advantages of having it, is that more teen mums will finish high school- so they'll be more likely able to find a job and support their child. This benefits everyone, as we won't have our tax dollars going to pay for someone who couldn't even finish schooling.
No of course they should not, its a disgrace you think that schools are responsible of your decision to have sex and have a child and then think they should provide daycare. It is not up to them to provide da care to a little slut that had a child while still at school!!!!! think first before you ever ask that question ever again!
Of course not, that's like saying ';Hey girls, go get pregnant, don't worry we'll take care of it!'; Highschools already give you an extremely important education and why should they have to pay the consequences for someone else's actions. they already do enough for kids by giving them a good education. That would just be unreasonable... in my opinion.
Yes, because everyone should finish school, and having a baby obviously makes finishing school even more crucial to someone. And I don't think it promotes teen pregnancy. They'll still have to take care of their baby outside of school, so it wouldn't be a free pass.
in no way would it promote it. most high schools can't afford something like that. its cost a lot of money and they have to provide for the education first. i mean their are so many things schools don't already have the money for like yearbooks, technology, books, lockers, clubs, school supplies, plays, etc. i mean some teachers even have to buy this stuff themselves.
yes I am a school bus driver and an old man and i have come to the conclusion that if people want an education they should have a easy and open opertunity because our communities have missed out on a lot of talented people because of persons not having support when they need and want it the plus is that others in the school would see the affect of not practiceing abstenance and the importance of father participation and how it is important for all of us to help bare the burdens of others because this is important to god his mission is peace and good will to all as this is what the angels announced at the birth of Jesus christ and for us to be a part of peace and good will gives us benifits to enumerual to say
they should allow it but the tax payers shouldn't have to pay for it,advantage lets moms get education, moms have instant access to their children Parents don't have to babysit. Most teens aren't thinking about daycare when their...Well u know.
my high school has it and i think it's a great idea. It doesn't promote teenage pregnancy, but it just lets them know help is available if they ever find themselves in that situation
That is stupid, you aren't supposed to have sex to begin with, so if you are too stupid to use birth control, then the rest of us tax payers shouldn't have to pay for your mistake.
no
you sleep around
you get pregnant
you take care of the damn kid
if you're so ';mature'; that you can have sex
then you're ';mature'; enough to take care of a baby
yes it says that its alright to get pregnant because you can just drop your kid off during the day I don't like the idea
Its an elective at my school. Though I graduated in December. But it doesn't promote anything. It's a BIG help for some moms.
I think they should to encourage the girls to stay in school. Some just drop out after they have the baby. They should at least stay and get their diploma.
yeah because it shows they can help and also if a teenage mum has a baby then they are gunna have to miss school to look after it.
I say no. Teenagers shouldn't be offered conveniences for things they shouldn't even be doing in the first place.
yes i do its because a lot of teenage girls have sex and then get pregnent then they have 2 drop out of school but when there is daycare they can stayin school
You should not have gotten knocked up if you couldn't take care of your child. Why don't you spit out 7 more like octomom and live off the state
Absolutely not! Taxpayers should not be responsible for the actions of teenagers!
All schools should provide daycare centres for the staff as well as the students.
Why can't they hand out birth control and condoms then?
LOL but they will take care of kids...... HA so messed up.
I think instead of spending more money on daycare they should spend more money on sex education.
Yes. When you're young (like in your 20s) and have a kid it's hard enough, if you've got coursework and exams on top of that, it's a ******* nightmare. My friend is 14 and has 1 year old, they have a babysitter sometimes but it's so expensive, her mum just takes days off alot. If she could bring her kid to school, to a daycare there, it would mean her mum could work loads more. I don't think it promotes teenage pregnancy: most teenage pregnancies accidents and even if they aren't, kids aren't gunna change their mind about having a kid because they have to find a babysitter.
