If the police arrested a teenage runaway for another offence would they automatically return them to their?

parents or the care home to which they were previously living? If so how do they actually check the person to whom they are returning them is actually their parent? If the police arrested a teenage runaway for another offence would they automatically return them to their?
It firstly depends on the reason for the arrest and how the issue of any charge is dealt with. It may, for example, be a case where the court believes that a remand to secure accommodation is required. Or, if the teenager is 18 or over, there may be a remand to a bail hostel.

You will gather that there is no ';automatic'; response to the position. The age of the teenager has to be considered and, if not yet 18, what is best for their welfare (bearing in mind the seriousness of any charges).
